Questions & Answers
How does this service help teach students responsibility?
Snoozester's Service for Universities is a tool to help students get to
class on time and stay on top of their academic schedules. The service does not
send any calls automatically; students are still responsible for logging in to the site
and scheduling their own wake up and reminder calls. The service is designed to
supplement the additional tools that students already have at their disposal
(such as alarm clocks, calendars and personal organizers).
How can this service help our school's retention rates?
Snoozester's Service for Universities helps schools to stand out from the crowd
by offering a more complete student experience. Schools can use Snoozester's
service to reach out to millennial students, improve attendance rates and reduce tardiness.
As a result, students will be more likely to succeed academically and continue
their academic careers.
How do students access the service?
Snoozester provides each participating school with a unique, secure web page that is branded with the school's logo.
Students can access this web page from any internet connected computer, they do
not need to be on campus to access the service. Snoozester combats unauthorized
access by requiring all students log in to the service using their email address and password
(students are assigned a password for use with the service; students are not
required to divulge the passwords associated with their other university
accounts). After logging in, students can manage their account, update their
personal information and password, and schedule wake up calls and reminder calls.
What will students hear when they receive their calls?
Students will hear a friendly wake up message when they answer their wake
up call. Snoozester provides a generic message by default, but this message can
be replaced with a customized, school-specific message. When a student answers a
reminder call, they will be read the message that they entered when they
scheduled the call.
How does the service differ from an alarm clock?
Snoozester's Service for Universities allows students at participating
schools to schedule as many wake up calls and reminder calls as they need.
Students can schedule multiple repeating calls to make sure that they are awake
and on top of their schedules, even if their schedules vary from day to day.
Students can also take advantage of the SecureAwake function when scheduling
their wake up calls. SecureAwake wake up calls attempt to call students every 2-3 minutes until they
answer the phone and press 1 to indicate that they are awake. This feature is
very popular with heavy-sleepers who are rarely roused by their alarm clocks and
rely on additional methods to help them get out of bed.
How do we add / remove students' access to the service?
Schools can add and remove students' access by providing Snoozester with a list of students who are eligible for the service
at the beginning of each semester. Snoozester also provides university staff
with access to an administrative interface. This interface allows university
staff to add or remove students' accounts at any time.
What can students use reminders for?
Students can take advantage of Snoozester reminder calls to help them stay
on top of their class schedule and remember exams, due dates, group meetings,
office hours, sports practice, social activities and other important
appointments and events.
How do we encourage our students to use this service?
Snoozester will work with your school to provide on campus marketing
suggestions and emails to students to keep them aware of the service.
Can faculty use the service as well?
Sure! Participating schools may offer the service to any and all members of
the school's community - including faculty and staff. Snoozester requests a list
of authorized users at the beginning of each semester.
How many calls can each student schedule?
Snoozester does not limit the number of legitimate wake up calls and
reminder calls that students may schedule. In order to discourage misuse,
Snoozester may disable a student's account if it is being used to schedule an
excessive number of calls.
Where is the service available?
This service is currently available in the United States and Canada. Calls can be scheduled to any valid U.S.
or Canadian phone number
How does this service affect students in residence halls?
Student living in residence halls often face the most difficult transition
from high school to college and independent life. Snoozester's service helps
resident students stay of top of their schedules and wake up on time for their
classes.
What do parents think of the service?
Parents love Snoozester too!
Parents take comfort in the knowledge that their son or daughter will be
provided with all of the tools necessary to be productive and responsible. Many
parents currently provide their children in college with wake up and reminder
calls.
Can commuter students participate in the service as well?
Absolutely! The service is not limited to residence hall phones. Commuters can use their
mobile phone or home phone for their wake up and reminder calls.
Do we need to buy any special hardware / software / phone lines?
No additional hardware or software is necessary. The service is hosted
entirely on Snoozester's advanced network. Your IT department does not need to
take on any additional responsibilities.
What types of phones can be used with the service?
Any U.S. or Canadian phone number - calls can be scheduled to dorm phones, home phones, mobile phones
and VoIP phones with U.S. or Canadian phone numbers.
It seems like students can use the system to harass people! How do you prevent misuse of the service?
We value the safety and privacy of your students. We have put two measures in place to discourage misuse of our service:
1. Verification Calls: Before students can use a phone number with the
service, they are required to verify that phone number. The verification process
is very easy and it only takes about one minute - the service calls the number and
prompts the recipient of the call to indicate whether or not they requested the
call. Students can begin scheduling calls immediately after the phone number has
been verified.
2. Blocking Unrequested Calls: Every call ends with the following message: "If you did not request this call, press 9" -- doing so will give the recipient of the call the option to have their number
blocked so that they do not receive any further calls.
How do you protect information about our students?
Security and privacy of personal information is our highest priority. All Snoozester servers are hosted in state-of-the-art, secure data centers. Additionally, the website is accessible via the https (secured/encrypted) protocol.
Who supports the service? What happens if students need assistance with the service?
Students can contact Snoozester's support team with any questions or support related issues they may have.
Snoozester provides support via email; students can submit support requests
using the support form on the service website.
Do you offer a free trial?
Sure! Don't just take our word, let your students try Snoozester and see
what they think. We will give your school a free trial that will be run just
like the regular service. When the trial is over, there are no obligations
and the school can choose what they would like to do with the service.
